This is from her son since Margaret is no longer able to post on here. So, here's the update. Margaret passed away Wednesday afternoon during surgery to drain fluid from around her heart and from her lungs. The surgery went fine, it was at the end when her heart rate went down and blood pressure fell also. The surgeons tried to bring her back for over an hour, unfortunately no luck. She went into the hospital on Monday afternoon because of hard breathing and her feet and legs were swollen. The doctors thought she might have had an infection in her legs but we never knew the answer to that. She was transferred to a different hospital for the surgery, where we were told that there was a 95% success rate. I guess that she was one of the 4 people that it just didn't work for. The surgeon did say that even if the surgery had been a success, that we should cherish every moment with her because it would have been unlikely that she would have lived past Thanksgiving, or Christmas at the longest. However, this was very unexpected and took us all by surprise. Our family has had about all of this that we can stand. Last Thursday Margaret's dad passed away as well.

I know she loved having this blog open to people to get information out as well as reading the comments that she got in reply. I will try to remember to post another update when all of this settles down and we figure some of this out. Thank You for all of your caring and understanding, we all know she will be missed greatly. R.I.P. Margaret May 1, 1959 --October 31, 2007

Margaret always amazed me. As she said, "Gal, CB love is like no other!" And her love sustained many of us through our own challenges. I can only hope we were half as much encouragement to her when she needed it.

Thank you for sharing her with us.

Margaret made such a wonderful impression on so many of us with her courage, bravery and optimism.
I cannot begin to express how much she will be missed. The CBs were so lucky to know her.

Maregaret was a wonderful person, with a wonderful sense of humor and wit. I hope that her boys will know that she loved them dearly.

Thanks JT or Kyle for posting the news. We loved her because she loved us. She never let her troubles get in the way of being our friend. She tried as hard as she could to make her illness seem trivial - she showed us what bravery really is.
She always told us one of you were her favorite and the other one she likes a lot. Well, she still feels that way. You were her life, both of you. She was enormously proud of the men you have grown to be.
It will be a long time before Margaret leaves us. The days will get better for all of us, I am sure, but right now it doesn't seem that way.
I am sad that my friend lost her daddy, I am sad that her sons have lost their mama, and I am sad that I have lost a friend.

I am so sad for your loss, but so happy that she was my friend, though I never had the joy of meeting her face to face.

May you all find comfort in her love for you. She was so fiercely proud of you.

May God hold you all tightly.

Many thoughts and prayers go out to you tonight. I am another CB that was truly amazed at the strength Margaret displayed. In spite of her pain she always seemed so positive.

Know that we are all privileged to have known her and she will be missed.

Hugs
Penny

Yep, there is no love like CB love- know that we may be scattered across the world but put the word out and we'll do whatever we can to help our friend's family- she will be missed

I am another CB who will miss Margaret's strength and bravery. You all are in my thoughts. Remember the laughter...it helped so much when my dad died.

Oh, God. I am so sorry. My mom died suddenly this past June. It was very hard. With your grandfather passing away, too, this is going to be so hard for your family. Hang onto each other, and know there are a lot of people thinking of you.

Margaret was so strong and loving. You had a great mom. I don't know what else to say, except that she touched all of us.

Love,
ZaZa

Thank you for sharing Margaret with us. She will be greatly missed. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers.

You don't know me and I never followed Margaret's journey - I've come to you from Mary's blog but I had to leave a comment.

I lost my mum in February of this year, also to cancer. Her deterioration was steady and we always knew that we didn't have long left with her. Even though we knew this, the speed with which mum passed away was shocking. We were told by the nurses that it would be 48 hours. In the end, it was 48 minutes.

I know that right now you're feeling extremely raw and can't see a way out of this but I promise you, it does get better.

Not great, but better.

I am so sorry for your loss.

My deepest sympathies. I've been praying for Margaret and I'm so sorry that you have lost both her and her father in such a short time. She has been an inspiration, with her courage and generosity, and will be missed.

Bless you all.

John, I know you will take good care of your sons; Margaret had great faith in your love for them.

Boys, I first met your mom just over a year ago but it felt as if we'd been friends for a very long time. During the past year we spent many long hours talking and laughing, and sometimes cursing fate. She was one of the most courageous people I have ever known and it was a privilege to call her friend. I loved her wry humour and her fierce determination and her selfless compassion for others. I will miss her terribly. She loved you both with all her heart and was so very proud of the men you are becoming.

I've lost a parent, too, and I know. It's hard. Take care of each other and give your dad and grandma some extra love in the tough days to come. I will be holding you close in my thoughts and prayers.

Bonnie/BCB

To the ones Margaret loved,
I pray for your comfort and peace during this very difficult time. Margaret was a one of a kind lady. She taught so many people what true grace is. She faced her challenges head on in a positive manner. She showed her determination to fight Skippy to the end. I will miss talking to her and reading her comments on the blog. Her humor in the face of adversity was amazing. Remember that her spirit will forever be a part of your lives.

Thank you for posting this news about Margaret. My prayers are with your family.

I will miss Margaret, she always faced life with courage and a sense of humor.

Mary (another CB)

Margaret was undescrible...she was wonderful to her co-workers. We loved her and I believe she came to work with us for a purpose for us. She has shown us courage that was unreal, words of wisdom and a smile that will never be forgotten. She was never bitter or mad at the world...just glad to be able to come to work and she said it helped past the time. We love her and have learn more on how to deal with the hills of life....May God Bless each of you always....NB(ISD)

I can only hope that when my time comes to face adversity I can have the courage that Margaret had. She has been an inspiration to us all.

I am so sorry for the loss of your grandfather and Margaret. As so many have said, her courage and humor were an inspiration to me and I am so glad I got to meet her.

Your family is in my heart and my prayers.

JT & Kyle and everyone who loved Margaret--
I am so so sorry about all of this. I didn't know about your grandfather and seeing the obit in the N&O for Margaret was such a shock.

I take some solace in that she is with her dad and that they are both pain-free and in the joy of the Lord.

She was a dynamite gal and I am going to miss her so very much.

My prayers are out to both of you, your grandmother, and all of Margaret's family.

Blessings and peace to you all,

Kathy B.

Goodbye Margaret, you will be missed.

JT and Kyle, my condolences. Call me if there is something I can do to help y'all. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hey Boys, I met you guys at the balloon event. My name is Craig and I just wanted you to know that I was so happy to call your mom a friend. She will be greatly missed. I know, and I am sure you do too that she is in a much better place, where she can laugh and it not hurt. Fear not for you will see her again. She was truely an extraordinary lady full of life and humor. She will be sorely missed here at work. If you ever need anything give me a call.

Thank you so much for the post.

I never had the chance to meet Margaret in person, but we commented on each other's blogs and in CB world. I am so very sorry for your loss, but I am also glad she can rest now, without pain. She inspired me and helped me keep my chin up, and I can only hope that some goofy thing I said brought a smile to her face from time to time.

Thank for sharing her.

When I saw the red rose in your chair I wept - then hugged Vandella and thanked God that your spirit was soaring among the clouds, with that beautiful smile and pain free. We will miss you dear friend and will never forget you Margaret. An inspiration you will always be.
I loved you...Shirley

Today I watched a Robin
In my front yard
I thought by now that they should all be gone.
With winter 'round the corner
Snow on its way
Surely something must be wrong.
Then in that old oak tree I finally saw him
Where he sat gazing down upon his mate
And the song that he was singing
Seemed to say "I'll be right here"
"I'd like to go, but your love's made me stay."

She's got a broken wing
And that's why she can't fly
He just can't leave her there
So he stays by her side
They're just like you and me
Oh you should've heard her sing
They won't give up
It's just a broken wing.

I wish we all could learn
What they seem to have found
To love our families
When trouble comes around
I'll bet that God saw fit
To show them to me
Her on the ground
Him in that tree.

She's got a broken wing
And that's why she can't fly
He just can't leave her there
So he stays by her side
They're just like you and me
Oh you should've heard him sing
They won't give up
We won't give up
They won't give up
It's just a broken wing.

I decided to put a blog together for 2 reasons. I have cancer and am undergoing treatments. I wanted a record of events, and I also knew I wouldn't be able to update everyone constantly. You know how it goes: the first person who calls gets very good information. The 10th person gets, "I'm fine, kinda tired. Can we talk later?", which I thought wasn't fair. The response has been awesome; I never expected this kind of success. Thanks, Blogger! And thanks to all who read, respond, and care.
