I know, I know, I haven’t posted in days. That’s good news, y’all! Honestly, I feel good, I’m eating, I’m sleeping, the job is going well, and the dog has finally stopped shedding enough hair to knit a sweater. See? Life is good. I have learned that if I keep Tylenol or Motrin in my system all the time, I feel better: No aches, not much coughing, throat is less sore (yes, I still have that). Still no cravings, either, although mashed and baked potatoes (not together) taste very good to me. Hmmm… maybe together would be good, too.

I’ve been wearing my wig to work and around town. It generates far less attention than hats and scarves, allowing me to fly under the radar. I’m a blonde now, which people seem to like. I haven’t been naturally blonde for many years, but hey, I may go back if I ever get hair again! I have learned that whether it’s homegrown or not, “bad hair days” still happen. Who’d a thought?? Oh, and something else: now that the weather has cooled, when I go “au naturel,” my poor bald head gets downright cold! Many thanks to Darlene at Lovely Lady in Cary for her advice and skill at making this wig look natural.

There are so many people to thank for their assistance on this journey; there are many, and I hope they know who they are. Some folks I lean on a little, others I lean on a lot; it just depends on what I need at the time. Every bit helps, and I am grateful you are here.

So, you've been flying now, huh? Well, with all those potatoes, I am genuinely surprised you can run fast enough to get airborne. Not that you aren't svelt and all but, well...

You know, like geese when they are trying to take off. Ummmm... you don't get it, do ya? It's like this: The ol' goose decides to move to a "greener grass" location so he starts running. Since there are houses, cars, cats, and dogs, not to mention eagles, crows, bluebirds, and herons or mashed and baked potatoes in his way, he decides to fly if he can get up enough speed. After running a while across the lawn or lake, on a goosie diet of grass, not potatoes, he finally has enough pressure differential between the upper and lower surface of his wings (lower pressure on the top) and he magically becomes airborne. That is, he starts flying.

Regardless of your very strange fantasies of flying and being blonde, you are a delight to behold with your wig and sparkling smile. A picture of health, one of which I am sure ol' Skip is very confused by. Here he is, thinking he has the upper hand and you have him by the scruff of the neck kicking his butt all the way to where ever it is Patton kicked all those German guys to back in the big one. Or two.

Anyway, dear lady, you are our strength, our glittering diamond...

Say goodnight, Gracie

Hi Margaret -

I'm waiting to read that your appetite is back and you are craving something wonderful so I can join you to celebrate the crave.

Well one thing that can be said for wearing a wig is that when it gets cold you won't need to wear a hat thus elimating "hat-head" --- you know that completely unattractive look you get when you take the hat off!

Keep posting and I'll keep reading waiting for that crave to cue me.

Love, Jo

Hi Margaret,

I just wanted you to know you have been in my thoughts and prayers over the past few months. I have been a constant lurker on your blog thanks to Enola sending me your blog url. You are truly amazing as everyone says. You are so real. I feel like I can hear your voice and see your face when I read your posts. Thank you for just being you and letting us all "hear" you.

I miss you! Know that you have a cheering section in Greensboro!

Love,

Marni

(I'm sorry for not posting sooner. I couldn't figure it out until you posted directions and then I was a little embarrassed I hadn't chimed in before. So much for being a "media specialist!" :))

Marni!!

Good to see you, gal!
I'm glad to know that you're still in the loop! You're in my thoughts, too, and I'm hoping that good things are happening for you.

Margaret...

Hang in there ...eat those potatoes...either way.

I'm thinking positive thoughts for you...Haven't had chemo..but have had radiation for cancer...so far in remission for eight years.

Think of all the colorful wigs you can wear...

I decided to put a blog together for 2 reasons. I have cancer and am undergoing treatments. I wanted a record of events, and I also knew I wouldn't be able to update everyone constantly. You know how it goes: the first person who calls gets very good information. The 10th person gets, "I'm fine, kinda tired. Can we talk later?", which I thought wasn't fair. The response has been awesome; I never expected this kind of success. Thanks, Blogger! And thanks to all who read, respond, and care.
